About The Baker
The Heart Behind Sweet Simplicity
Our Story
The Flavor-First Philosophy
It all started about ten years ago, but the roots of my passion go back much further—straight to the warmth of my Gramma Jewel’s kitchen during Thanksgiving dinner. Watching her bring our family together over comforting, unforgettable meals was where I first fell in love with cooking. It wasn’t just about the food; it was about the love, the connection, and the timeless tradition of true Southern hospitality. When I began baking for my own family a decade ago, I carried those exact values with me. At Sweet Simplicity, I don't build extravagant, over-the-top cakes coated in layers of stiff, tasteless icing. Instead, I make honest-to-goodness, great-tasting baked goods that stand completely on their own.
My approach to baking is simple: flavor-first, always. I believe that a truly exceptional dessert should be a centerpiece of comfort and elegance. That is why I completely reject the airy, dry, mass-produced textures of standard, commercial bakeries.
Every single treat that leaves my kitchen is handcrafted in small batches with deep intention and a commitment to Southern Country Elegance. You can taste the difference in:
• The Quality of the Ingredients: I bake strictly from scratch using premium unsalted butter, aromatic vanilla bean paste, and an abundance of rich, high-end chocolate.
• The Texture of the Bakes: Our signature pound cakes, layer cakes, and brownies are crafted to be unapologetically dense, rich, and substantial.
• The Legacy: Every time I bake our signature classic, The Southern Jewel, it is a direct tribute to the woman and the Thanksgiving dinners that started it all.
